Cracker Barrel Old Country Store® Named a 2016 Top Workplace by The Tennessean

Cracker Barrel Old Country Store® was selected as one of the 2016 Top Workplaces by The Tennessean, the principal daily newspaper in Nashville, Tennessee.

The Middle Tennessee Top Workplaces list is based on the results of an employee feedback survey conducted by independent research firm WorkplaceDynamics, LLP. Designed to identify companies that excel at organization health and workplace engagement, several aspects of workplace culture were measured, including Alignment, Execution and Connection.

“The Top Workplaces award is not a popularity contest,” said WorkplaceDynamics Chief Executive Officer Doug Claffey. “Oftentimes, people assume it’s all about fancy perks and benefits, but organizations must meet our strict standards for organizational health to be a Top Workplace. And who better to ask about work life than the people who live the culture every day — the employees. Time and time again, our research has proven that what’s most important to them is a strong belief in where the organization is headed, how it’s going to get there, and the feeling that everyone is in it together. Without this sense of connection, an organization doesn’t have a shot at being named a Top Workplace.

“We are incredibly honored to receive this recognition as a Top Workplace from The Tennessean,” said Cracker Barrel Chief People Officer Beverly Carmichael. “Cracker Barrel’s mission of Pleasing People isn’t just about making our guests feel welcome and at home each and every time they walk into one of our stores. Pleasing People starts with taking good care of our employees and ensuring they have a positive experience with us.

“At Cracker Barrel, we believe that the guest experience should not exceed the employee experience because our employees bring our mission to life each day,” Carmichael continued. “They are truly the lifeblood of our company – the reason for our success. We are grateful for our 72,000 employees and all they do, and thank those in Middle Tennessee for helping us to achieve this prestigious honor.”

Cracker Barrel was honored alongside other recipients at an awards gala on June 16. The complete list of Top Workplace winners was published in The Tennessean on June 19.
